Education and Work
Danish-German schooling
My schooling took place on both sides of the Danish-German border. I started at the German school in Denmark, then went to a Danish school in Denmark and finished at Duborg School, the Danish high school in Flensburg.
Odd jobs inbetween
Before, during and after my studies, I had various jobs. For example, I worked on the duty-free boats between Denmark and Germany, I worked as a taxi driver and as a teaching assistant at a construction playground, I worked in plant breeding and in an internet café and, for a while, I was a church singer....just to mention some.
Russian and European Studies
I started my studies at Aarhus University with Russian as my major and European Studies as my minor. It was exciting to dive deep into topics. At the same time, I worked at the Slavic Bookstore in Aarhus. The practical work in the bookstore regularly made me aware that I was missing a more practical side of my life that purely academic life could not offer me.
Cabinet maker apprenticeship
After graduating, I felt the urge to test my practical skills. I wanted to produce something that has immediate practical value. I love seeing a product come into being and I like the material wood. During my apprenticeship I was an intern at a turner on Bornholm, a wood carver and a small restoration workshop, both in Copenhagen.
Furniture Workshop Beate
The small furniture workshop was called Beate. I worked there for a few years after my apprenticeship. We restored antiques for clients and bought up old furniture which we restored and sold. In addition to the manual work, I had a lot of customer contact and was partly responsible for pricing and billing.
Wood Works, Roatan
My small furniture workshop "Wood Works" on the beautiful Caribbean island of Roatan in Honduras had a mixed clientele. Among other things, I've made kitchens for a large hotel, chairs for the small taco restaurant on the corner, and a wine cellar for a luxury resort. Along with georgeous white beaches, beautiful weather, and an exciting, diverse culture, island life was characterized by regular power outages, late deliveries, and constant changing of minds. It required a lot of readiness to change and it never got boring.
Frobenius & Sons
When I returned to Denmark, I lived north of Copenhagen for a transitional period. Here I found work at the organ builder Th. Frobenius & Sons. It was fascinating to help build and restore the beautiful, huge instruments. As an organ builder you work with many materials such as wood, metal, leather and felt.
Teacher at Rackow School
While we lived in Flensburg, I got a job at Rackow School in Flensburg. The school offers courses for the long-term unemployed. The goal is helping young people solve some of the problems that create obstacles for them and to give them skills that bring them closer to working life. It was an interesting challenge to try to help the young people move on in life.
Kirkeby Børnehus,
In the kindergarten in Kirkeby on South Funen I worked as an on-call substitute. I quickly got so many shifts that I was a regular part of the kindergarten. Kirkeby Børnehus placed a high value on outdoor life and creativity. I loved making musical moments together with the children around the sandbox with guitar and song.
Webintegrator, SDE
In 2016 it was time to try something new. I wondered how I could combine my intellectual abilities with my creative drive. I got into programming. After overcoming the first hurdle of total programming ignorance, I quickly rose to the top of my class. Getting started with programming felt like coming home.

By the end of the internship, I had built an app for an imaginary TV company. Through the app, which was connected to a database, loans of equipment could be registered via QR code.
CleanManager
In the years 2019 to 2021, I have been employed by a small software company in Odense. CleanManager was entering the German market. My task was to help make the system ready for the German market both technically and linguistically. The language was implemented using the internationalization system GetText.
